My favourite shot in cricket
Is the forward defensive push
Left foot forward
Head in-line
Bat against pad and angled down
Wrists loosely held
The ball cushioned
And rolled back along its path
Insultingly slow
Stopping yards short
And on occasion
The wrists held firm
And followed through
The ball sizzling in a delicious arc
Thumping the boundary wall
